The winter's gone: I want to sing
praise to the coming of the spring
The daffodils in yellow bloom
wipe out the darkened clouds of gloom
The bees fly loaded to their hive
but there is joy in their strife
the starlings fly for miles and miles
to nest beneath my house roof tiles
And so, again, the winter ends
and God his wind of colour sends
The summer rain will bid its time
and give me excuse for a new rhyme
and then the clouds will reappear
towards the end of the new year
